Matt Amodio, the Medina native whose run on “Jeopardy!” has spanned across multiple guest hosts, passed James Holzhauer on Friday for most wins in regular season play.

Amodio won his 33rd episode in a row on Friday, which is one more than Holzhauer’s 32-victory run in 2019. With 33 victories, Amodio sits second on Jeopardy’s list of most wins in regular season play.

He still has a long way to go to get to No. 1. Ken Jennings, who was deemed Jeopardy’s “Greatest of All Time” in 2020, won 74-consecutive games in 2004.

The majority of games during Amodio’s run have not been competitive. Amodio has held the lead going into Final Jeopardy all 33 times, according to The Jeopardy Fan, which tracks show statistics. In 27 of those games, Amodio has built an insurmountable lead going into Final Jeopardy, otherwise known as a “runaway.”

Amodio has netted more than $1.2 million during his run on Jeopardy.
