Widespread and heavy rain chances are in the forecast across Ohio for Mother’s Day, with the possibility of isolated severe weather and localized flooding.

What You Need To Know

  • Widespread rain chances take over
  • We have chilly temperatures, especially north
  • Localized flooding and even isolated severe storms are possible

Widespread rain moved in last night and continues pushing through the state this morning. For brunch plans today, have the umbrella and the heavier jacket on with temperatures in the 40s and 50s.

Through the afternoon some breaks in the rain are possible in southeastern Ohio, but overall, most of us won’t see much dry time. Heavy rain ramps up this evening as the final wave pushes in with the cold front.

Between 4 p.m. through 9 p.m., heavy rain and some storms are possible as a cold front pushes through the state later today. Localized flooding is a concern. Some stronger/severe storms are possible, especially in southern Ohio.

Rainfall totals by tonight range from 1-2 inches with areas farther southeast seeing slightly less.

Rain exits by Monday and we’ll start off next week dry! Highs remain below average in the 50s to lower 60s.

In fact long term, where is May? Our temperature trend stays below normals until later next week. As of right now our warmest day won’t be until next Saturday as highs push the lower 70s, so expect most of the week to be in the 50s and 60s.

Flooding and severe weather possible Sunday

Widespread and occasionally heavy rain could cause localized flooding in the state, especially for areas along and north of I-70.

Additonally, southern Ohio could see isolated strong to severe storms.
