CINCINNATI — Schools are getting out for summer and one group of moms is spending the time showing their kids how to help others across the world.

What You Need To Know

  • Moms on Mission is a group of moms who volunteer with their kids whenever help is needed
  • Some of the kids volunteering are still in diapers, but their mom volunteers said it’s important for them to start giving back at a young age
  • The group teamed up with A Child’s Hope International to make 10,000 meals that will go to families overseas

Little Zeke already knows how to volunteer, and he’s almost two. He helps to pack boxes that will feed starving families overseas. His mom, Madison Reeves, said there’s a lesson in what he’s doing.

“I really love the opportunity just to teach him how to humbly serve other people in the community,” said Reeves.

That’s why she’s one of dozens of moms volunteering. They pack food boxes with their kids as a part of Moms on Mission in Cincinnati.

“With serving alongside other moms, you get that connection of, ‘Hey we have the same goal in mind,’ and we have the connection of the same heart, like let’s do this together,” said Reeves.

Emily Parks helped start the group about five years ago with her own three kids and another mom. She said when school’s out, crowds of families help.

“We realize that together, we’re not just changing the world, but it starts to change the environment inside your own home, your conversations change, their hearts change and as a mom, your heart starts to change,” said Parks.

The mom group teamed up with A Child’s Hope International, a charity supplying food and getting the food boxes overseas.

Together they helped make 10,000 meals that will feed families. It was all done in a couple of hours, with even the littlest ones giving back.

“It feels like a family,” said Reeves.
