The National Weather Service has confirmed at least five tornadoes touched down in Ohio this weekend, including near South Salem, near Frankfort, Vickery and near Kingston.
It’s unclear at this time if these are from the same tornado.
The NWS is currently conducting storm surveys in several counties including, Ross County after severe weather rolled through parts of Ohio Friday and early Saturday morning, causing damage from what may be multiple tornadoes.
“While the survey is ongoing, it is apparent that a tornado did touch down near South Salem. A final assessment including results of the survey and a rating is expected to be completed and transmitted via a Public Information Statement later this evening,” NWS officials said.

Surveyors will take a look at the damage and determine whether any tornadoes touched down and exactly what strength any tornadoes that did form were.
Tornado Warnings were issued in Highland, Ross, Pickaway and Fairfield Counties between 1 a.m. to 3 a.m.
There were a couple of reports of “probable” tornado touchdowns. One of those was in northern Highland County near Samantha and Leesburg Ohio.
A second — radar confirmed touchdown — occurred in Ross County in and around South Salem.
There were also reports of damage to residential structures and numerous trees down along Stewart Street near Main Street in South Salem.
Further south, there were reports of some significant damage south of the Cincinnati area in Kenton County, Kentucky.
The good news for all of the Buckeye State is that with the front well to our east, we’ll continue to see clearing skies, more seasonable temperatures and virtually no chances of severe weather within the foreseeable future.
