WORTHINGTON, Ohio (AP) — A small plane crashed near a neighborhood in a Columbus suburb early Monday, but authorities said no serious injuries were reported.

The Cessna 185 took off from the Ohio State University Don Scott Airport for North Bass Island and began experiencing engine problems, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The pilot, Christine Mortine, 60, of Worthington, attempted to make an emergency landing, but crashed shortly before 9 a.m. in a wooded area behind a house at 1097 Ravine Ridge Dr. in Worthington, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Mortine, who was the only person in the aircraft, escaped injury, authorities said.

It wasn’t clear if anyone was in any of the nearby homes when the crash occurred.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the cause of the crash.
