OHIO —  Memorial Tournament guests who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 won’t have to wear masks at any of the indoor and outdoor events, the tournament announced Wednesday.

Organizers still encourage fans who didn’t receive the vaccine to wear masks indoors or outdoors if they can’t social distance — the same guidance the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued last week.

The CDC defines fully vaccination as two weeks after receiving the second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or two weeks after receiving the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Ohio plans to lift health restrictions on June 2. The tournament’s practice rounds begin May 31, when the order is still in place. The tournament begins June 3 and ends June 6, after Ohio’s COVID-19 restrictions expire. Other COVID-19 safety protocols will still be enforced, such as cashless merchandising and concession stands, and social distancing will be encouraged at venues.

The announcement comes after tournament officials announced earlier this month that fans will be allowed in to watch.

The tournament announced two new additions to the event as well Wednesday: World No. 2 Justin Thomas and former Buckeye Bo Hoag have committed. They will be joining the defending champion, Jon Rahm; Masters champion and 2014 Memorial winner Hideki Matsuyama; U.S. Open champion and 2018 Memorial winner Bryson DeChambeau; and World No. 4 Xander Schauffele.
