BEAVERCREEK, Ohio — A developmentally disabled woman in Beavercreek is celebrating 25 years of working for the Trinity Community Nursing Home.

Sue Braun has been washing dishes and helping where needed since 1997.

What You Need To Know

  • Sue Braun has worked at Trinity Community Nursing Home for 25 years
  • Braun is known for her hard work and hugs
  • Trinity is a United Church Homes Community

“I have a nice group of people I work with in the kitchen,” Braun said.

“She does a great job and she’s always happy,” said Missy Barley, Braun’s supervisor. “Sue gets along with everybody,” said Barley, who has worked at the nursing home five years longer than Braun.

“Nowadays, the younger crowd, they don’t really want to work,” Barley said. “Sue always comes in and does her job and does extra things.”

Braun has endeared herself to the residents by taking them drinks and always remembering their orders. She’s also known for giving great hugs.

“Sue plays such a wonderful role in all of our lives,” said resident Linda Siekman. “I love looking forward to her hugs every day.”

Braun also makes a point of visiting with her own mother, who has been living at Trinity since suffering a stroke.

“I go to visit her every day,” Braun said. “She squeezes my hand.”

It’s those little moments of interaction that are a big reason Braun is loved so much here, Barley said.

“Sue makes a difference in the lives of our residents every day,” Barley said.
