OLMSTED FALLS, Ohio — After claiming gold at the Tokyo Games last week, Katie Nageotte is about to receive an Olympic-sized homecoming.

Olmsted Falls will honor Nageotte with several events on Friday.

Nageotte will be escorted by fire truck from Village Green to Olmsted Falls High School at 4 p.m. on Friday. From 5-8 p.m. on Friday, she will participate in a meet-and-greet. The high school’s band and cheerleaders and other area dignitaries will be on hand.

Fans who are unable to attend can view the ceremonies on the high school’s YouTube page.

School Superintendent Jim Lloyd tweeted photos of the town getting prepared for Nageotte’s return.

Nageotte won the gold medal in the pole vault by reaching a height of 4.9 meters. In the U.S. Olympic Trials, Nageotte reached a height of 4.95 meters.

Prior to making the Olympics, Nageotte was a member of both the University of Dayton and Ashland University track and field teams. She won the NCAA Division II indoor and outdoor championships in 2013.
