Widespread and heavy rain chances are in the forecast across Ohio for Mothers Day, with the possibility of isolated severe weather and localized flooding.

A few sprinkles are possible in western Ohio before midnight, then rain chances ramp up through the morning, with heavy rain in the mix for parts of northern Ohio by 6-7 a.m.

For northern Ohio, heavy rain will be persistent in the forecast. Between 1-2″ of rain is likely for much of the state, especially for the northern half of Ohio. Localized flooding and standing water are looking likely.

Additionally, southern Ohio will have more of an opportunity to warm up before a wave of storms arrives during the late afternoon. This is where we will see a marginal risk (Level 1/5) for severe weather.

The most likely threat will be damaging straight-line winds. Rain chances wind down across the state by around 10 p.m., then we enter a dry, but still cool stretch of weather. 

Flooding and severe weather possible Sunday

Widespread and a times, heavy rain could cause localized flooding across the state, especially for areas along and north of I-70.

Additonally, Southern Ohio could see isolated strong to severe storms.
