COLUMBUS, Ohio — Canal Winchester High School and Middle School as well as Pickerington North High School closed early Monday morning due to a “threat” according to school officials.

For Canal Winchester, a district spokesperson said the schools closed because of a “threat” that hasn’t been identified. All school buildings have been evacuated and families have been notified. Busses carrying students were re-routed back to their homes.

Pickerington North also closed Monday due to a bomb threat, according to a school official. An emergency notice was sent out to parents and the community, asking residents to avoid the area.

In the notice, it said “many entities” have received bomb threats in the last 24 hours, and Pickerington North is one of them. The district is working with the police, and canine units will sweep the building.

The district said all students and staff are safe at this time.
