Report: 13 deaths, more than 400 arrests made over Thanksgiving holiday weekend in Ohio

OHIO — The Ohio State Highway Patrol reports there were more deaths this year compared to last year on the state’s roadways over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. 

Between Wednesday, Nov. 24 and Sunday, Nov. 28, troopers reported 13 deaths among 10 fatal accidents. That’s more than last year, when 11 deaths were reported with 11 fatal accidents. 

Officials said the 13 deaths included one pedestrian, four people who weren’t wearing seatbelts and three crashes which were a result of drunk driving. 

Troopers also made more than 400 arrests, with 300 of them being due to impaired driving and the other 147 from drug possession. There was also 669 citations for failure to use a seat belt, and there were 106 distracted driving violations.

OSHP assisted more than 1,800 drivers during their travels this year.
