Rock Hall, COSI to hand out Learning Lunchboxes in downtown Cleveland

CLEVELAND — Multiple organizations are partnering Thursday to hand out 1,400 STEAM kits to families in northeast Ohio. 

The kit giveaway will be part of the Greater Cleveland Food Bank’s weekly food distribution at the City of Cleveland-Muni Lot. Thursday’s event runs from 1-4 p.m.

The Great Lakes Science Center, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Cleveland Public Library, Cleveland Metroparks and NASA’s Glenn Research Centerare all partnering with COSI for Thursday’s distribution. 

COSI, which is based in Columbus, is leading an initiative called Learning Lunchboxes. The program collaborates with organizations throughout the state to deliver 50,000 hands-on science kits to children across Ohio. 

The kits will include five activities aligned with Ohio’s Ohio’s learning standards and promote science, technology, engineering, arts, math (STEAM), culture, history, and more, according to COSI. 

In order to receive a kit, participants must register online. A total of 1,400 kits will be distributed on Thursday.
