CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled to return to Cleveland on Saturday, Oct. 30 but to a new location.

Officials announced Tuesday the event is moving from Cleveland’s Public Auditorium to the recently renovated Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
This is the sixth year the star-studded induction has been hosted in Cleveland, which shares the event with New York.
“We are so excited to announce this multi-year partnership with our friends at the Cleveland Cavaliers and the fieldhouse, that together as partners to help tell the story of rock and roll in Cleveland,” Rock Hall President and CEO Greg Harris said during a live stream announcement.
The Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, formerly Quicken Loans Arena, was updated in 2019.
“This is a gem for our community, a jewel, and to have it here at the fieldhouse, we cannot be more proud,” said Len Komoroski, Cleveland Cavaliers and Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse CEO.
An eight-story glass facade on the fieldhouse now reflects the city skyline, creating an atrium that adds nearly 44,000 square feet of public space, according to the Cavaliers website. Many new interior areas were created for fans to gather, as well as banquet and event spaces. The facility also was retrofitted throughout with the latest digital technology.
“We’ve undergone $185 million transformation of the fieldhouse, which really transformed this into a world-class venue that’s worthy of the magnitude of event that the induction ceremonies are. The improvements are incredible,” Komoroski said. “This building will feel as though it was made just for an event of this magnitude for the induction ceremony.”
Because of COVID-19 restrictions, officials expect to announce in July how many attendees will be permitted inside, as well as how many seats will be available to the public, Harris said.
Currently, the Cavaliers are approved to fill up to 25% of the fieldhouse capacity, Komoroski said. The organization has invested millions to boost health and safety aspects of the fieldhouse.
“So we’re very hopeful in the months ahead that we’ll just keep building off of that amount,” he said. “We’ve gotten terrific feedback from the Ohio Department of Health and many others about having incredible protocols to keep people incredibly safe. We look at it as one of the safest buildings in Ohio.”
Rock Hall online fan voting is underway through April 30. Inductees will be announced in May, honored at the rock hall museum all summer and celebrated at the induction ceremony, Harris said.
This year’s rock hall nominees include Iron Maiden, Todd Rundgren, DEVO, Foo Fighters, Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, Kate Bush, the Go-Gos, Chaka Khan, Carole King, Fela Kuti, LL Cool J, New York Dolls, Rage Against the Machine, Tina Turner, and Dionne Warwick.
