CLEVELAND — This holiday season, The Salvation Army expects to see a greater need for their services this season — far more than any other year.

What You Need To Know

  • With the holidays quickly approaching, the Salvation Army is seeing an increase in various needs
  • The Salvation Army launched a nationwide initiative called “Rescue Christmas” hoping people will answer the call to donate
  • With the pandemic still going on they have increased their contactless giving
  • Now able to donate via Alexa, Google Pay, Apple Pay or online

On top of the greater need, the Salvation Army is starting early when it comes to collecting holiday donations.

Alex and Diana Rodriguez are captains in the Salvation Army located in Cleveland. The couple have been married and working together for 11 years.

“We make a great team,” said Alex.

“We balance each other out,” said Diana.

Although the need for their services are great, Diana says they’ve been able to reach many different people.

“What people thought was going to be the end,” said Diana. “We’re actually seeing the complete opposite.”

Although they’re able to reach a wide audience the need for donations is great.

“In the Cleveland area, we normally help around 4,500 kids every year with toys and food,” said Alex. “This year, we’re expecting to have around 6,000.”

The Salvation Army is asking for any kind of donation people can offer, whether it’s time or monetary. To donate, click here.
