Sen. Brown’s photos show office vandalized following Capitol insurrection

Sen. Sherrod Brown on Wednesday shared photos for the first time of the damage to his office that occurred during the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol insurrection. 

Brown, a Democrat from northeast Ohio, captured the photos on Jan. 7, the morning after the insurrection that led to the arrests of hundreds. Tuesday marked the six-month mark following the fracas at the Capitol. 

The photos appeared to show broken glass throughout his office. It also shows furniture overturned and damaged.

The insurrection occurred as some Republican members of the House and Senate challenged the results of the 2020 presidential election. Senators were in the Senate chamber when the insurrection occurred. 

The incident forced members of the House and Senate to take cover and delay the counting of Electoral College votes. The process resumed late on the evening of Jan. 6, but did not conclude until the early morning hours of Jan. 7. 

According to the Department of Justice, more than a dozen people with Ohio ties have been arrested in connection with the Jan. 6 insurrection.
