CINCINNATI — Swimming, summer camps and playing outside are probably how most kids like to spend their summer. But for two young sisters, their idea of fun is running their own business and helping the community.

What You Need To Know

  • Sister duo Imani and Mariah Easley are the founders of Sisters Slushies
  • They offer a variety of different slushy flavors like sour apple and cherry
  • Giving back to the community is very important to the girls
  • Sometimes the girls donate a portion of their profits to the less fortunate or to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital

Sister duo Imani Easley, 10, and Mariah Easley, 8, are the founders of Sisters Slushies, a new business they started a couple of weeks ago.

“Dad made me make a name that included both of us in it so I said ‘sisters’ because obviously we’re sisters,” said Imani.

The sisters have mastered making slushies. Here’s how it’s done: You put the ice in the slushy machine and then mix the powder flavoring with water. But the next step is Mariah’s favorite.

“Putting the ice in it and stirring it,” she said.

While making the perfect slushy is definitely one of their top priorities, the girls said managing their money well is just as important.

“Ten percent goes to God, 20% goes to our savings and 10% goes to investments,” said Imani.

With their investment money, they enjoy giving back to the community. Sometimes they donate to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and other times they give back to the less fortunate.

“We put like sandwiches, chips, drinks and all the stuff they need to like hygiene and stuff in a bag, and we went around the city and gave some bags to the people,” she said.

Mariah said it’s important to give back.

“People don’t have the opportunities we have,” Mariah said.

As they look to grow their business over the next couple of years, they hope to have their own storefront.

“Maybe when we get older we’ll get a building and do the slushy thing in there,” said Imani.
