St. Vincent-St. Mary students recognized as Week 9 Scholar Athletes of the Week

AKRON, Ohio — Two football players from Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary High School have been named the Week 9 Scholar Athletes of the Week for the northeast region.

Tyler Knight is a football player for St. Vincent-St. Mary. Knight has been described as “the perfect example of what it means to be STVM,” and “the epitome of hardworking, team player, role model student, athlete and person.” Knight is a three-year letterman on the football team and is a captain for the 2021 season. When not on the football field, he has played baseball, is an athletic trainer, a boys basketball manager, plays CYO basketball, is a part of Future Medics Club, Green Street elite, spike ball club and is a mentor group leader. In the classroom, Knight has a 3.6 accumulative grade-point average through three years.

Mikey Eickhoff is a football player for the Fighting Irish. He has been described as “a talented, hard-working, motivated young man, who is a team player, has a ton of school spirit and works hard on and off the field.”  Eickhoff is a three-year letterman on the football team, four-year letterman on the baseball team, is a wrestler and is a member of Chinese Club, Future Medics Club, National Honors Society and is a student ambassador and Hawthorn House Captain. He has committed to play baseball at Wittenberg University. In the classroom, Eickhoff has a 4.05 accumulative GPA.
