  • She’s been bowling since she was 5
  • Martin, 17, is currently training for the U.S. Women’s Open later this month

Spectrum News 1 first introduced you to Jillian Martin in February, as the youngest bowler to make Junior Team USA.

The 17 year old from Stow has been bowling since she was 5.

Currently, she is in Illinois training with her coach for the U.S. Women’s Open coming up later this month.

Martin took us back to the moment when she realized she won the 2021 PWBA BowlTV Classic last week in Texas.

“I got to about the 8th or 9th frame and I kind of looked up at the score board and I was like, I’ve won. Like I can’t lose this anymore,” she said. “So, it was pretty cool and definitely made me super happy. Smile on my face. So, it was an awesome experience. Something I’ll be able to say I’m a PWBA Champion for the rest of my life and as of now I’m the youngest to do it. So, I think it’s super awesome and it’s just been amazing.”

The win also secured her a $10,000 prize. Due to her age, that money goes in to a scholarship fund to be used for college.

Martin plans to continue bowling in college, although she isn’t ready to announce where she plans to attend just yet. She has five schools in mind at the moment.

Martin hopes her success will inspire other young girls to get involved with bowling.
