TALLMADGE, Ohio – The Summit County Fair, themed “Blue Jeans and Country Dreams,” begins Tuesday with a packed schedule of events, offering everything from karaoke and dog agility to a dance party and a draft horse pull. 


What You Need To Know

  • The Summit County fair runs Tuesday, July 27 through Sunday, Aug. 1 at 1050 North Ave. in Tallmadge
  • General admission is $7 for adults and $3 for kids ages 2-8, with specialty days and discounts offered
  • The fair features daily musical performances and magic shows, vendors, food, rides and an array of contests
  • The Junior Fairboard and Summit County 4-H Club will offer competitions, demonstrations and exhibits throughout the week, with various livestock and projects on display

The fair opens at 11 a.m. on Tuesday and runs through Sunday at the Summit County Fairgrounds.

Fair hours are the following: 

  • Tuesday and Wednesday: 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Thursday: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. 
  • Friday and Saturday: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Sunday: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. 

Shuttered last year by the pandemic, the event this year features daily musical performances, magic shows, vendors, food, rides and an array of contests.

Rides open at noon each day. An all-day pass for fair rides is $15, except for Wednesday when it’s $10. Rides will close for one hour each day for a safety break.

The Junior Fairboard and Summit County 4-H Club will offer competitions, demonstrations and livestock exhibits throughout the week with various projects on display.

Grandstand events begin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 4 p.m. Sunday. Grandstand admission is not included with general admission and prices vary.

Grandstand events include:

  • Tuesday: Motocross
  • Wednesday and Thursday: Demolition derby
  • Friday: Truck pulls
  • Saturday: Tractor pulls
  • Sunday: Koi drag racing

Exhibitors will have display that include livestock, poultry, canned food, baked goods, needlework, bees, vegetables, flowers, photography, beer and wine and more.

Specialty days and discounts include:

  • Tuesday: $3 admission for seniors and first responders, with free admission to the grandstand event for the first 1,000 first responders
  • Wednesday: $3 admission for farm bureau members, veterans and active military
  • Thursday: Free admission and $10 ride-pass for kids under 14
  • Friday: $4 admission until 3 p.m. with a boxed or canned food item for the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank
