In Cleveland, activist Joe Black saw an opportunity to flip the script, working to help community members and police officers see life from the other person’s point of view.
When relationships are strengthened, life improves.
“How do we engage each other on an even platform to focus on relationships and not the negative things that are being communicated about our neighborhoods,” Black said.
The journey of better understanding began with a police ride along, and continued with interactions between officers and the community’s youth.
