GREEN, Ohio — Many people are relying on their neighbors now more than ever as the pandemic persists.
This is why Green is hosting a two-week-long, city-wide food drive.
“We are trying to help out the community—the people in need with the COVID crisis and everything. They may not have enough food,” said Terry Hogan, a volunteer.
Every day for two weeks, community members will set up at a different location around the city.
On Tuesday, the Boy Scouts troupe 330 were the ones collecting the food.
Boy Scout Steven Wynn believes it’s important for the younger generation to give back.
“It just adds to their character and life. I think it is just better to have these experiences and be helpful,” Wynn said.
The food raised during the drive will benefit the Green Good Neighbors organization and Blessings in a Backpack.
Both are organizations that many Green residents says do great things for the community.
“This is a great place to live. There is Blessings in a Backpack, which helps out with food-aged children. We’re collecting for that and this is also going towards Green’s Good Neighbors, but the whole community really rallies together to support each other,” said Hogan.
The community food drive wraps up this Saturday.
