OHIO — Tuesday is the first day for early voting in Ohio’s primary, which is May 4.
Monday was the last day to register. All elections offices will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for the next few weeks. In the nine days before May 4, the state plans to add more hours plus Saturday and Sunday voting. Ohio is one of 20 states to offer weekend voting during an election period.
Ohio surpasses the national average of early voting by 47.3%, according to Secretary Frank LaRose.
“Our elections have been so successful because over time we’ve developed a strong, secure, and accessible system that’s empowered voters with extensive opportunities to make their voice heard,” said LaRose. “This primary season is just as important as any other election, and with elections happening across 60 counties, it’s going to have a big impact in communities across Ohio.”
Absentee ballots can be printed and mailed in to the local county Board of Elections. You can find that form here. Voters have until May 1 to request an absentee ballot. The completed ballot must be postmarked by May 3 and received by the local Board of Elections by May 14 in order to be counted.
Hours to vote early at your county Board of Elections are as follows:
- April 6 to April 9: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- April 12 to April 16: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- April 19 to April 23: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- April 26 to April 30: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- May 1: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- May 2: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- May 3: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
