Ohio Task Force 1 is back home after helping at the Surfside condominium collapse in Miami Florida for the past 15 consecutive days.

Eighty-one elite search-and-rescue personnel are back with their families after assisting in an extensive recovery mission.

Task force leader Adam Landis was reunited with his father and said it’s good to be home after the difficult assignment.

“Going out with a team like this, and working with the teams that we were working with down there — I can’t say enough about this team,” Landis said.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine was on hand to welcome the task force back, offering messages of support before taking the podium.

“Welcome home, we are very, very proud of you,” DeWine said.

DeWine presented a proclamation to OHTF1 Program Manager Evan Schuman, who said the team worked tirelessly in alternating 12-hour shifts working non-stop, as the team helped to remove thousands of pounds of concrete to recover those killed in the tragic collapse.

With the mission of his team now complete, Adam Landis shared this message for the community where he spent nearly two weeks.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to the folks of Surfside, and hopefully we were able to provide a little bit of closure to them and their families,” Landis said.
