CINCINNATI — Spectrum News 1 caught up with Tylin Rosser last month. She’d recently discovered her biological father after six decades, and with the help of a DNA test, some old pictures and two families coming together, she finally got to meet him face to face.

What You Need To Know

  • Tylin Rosser, 62, found her father Thomas Williams, 81, after she did a DNA test from Ancestry.com
  • Williams only knew of Rosser from a baby picture
  • The two met first on a video call, and later in person, and plan to keep the family reunions going

“I mean, the tears started coming, and it’s like I finally get to meet you (her dad),” said Rosser.

She drove from Cincinnati to Alabama to meet him.

“The minute my hands touched his hands was just this warm relief,” she said.

Before this, she said his identity was kept secret, but her baby pictures from the Philippines and a DNA test would prove she was in fact the daughter of Thomas Williams.

“I just never gave up. I figured one day, I would get a chance to see her,” said Williams.

He said while he was in the Marines, stationed in the Philippines, he had a relationship with Rosser’s mother, but he’d only ever seen a baby picture until now.

“I turned around, there she was,” said Williams.

He said when he saw her, he knew.

“I kinda knew that was her cause when I looked at her, something came over me you know,” he said.

The two gained a whole host of family members who threw the father-daughter pair a family reunion party where they had their first father-daughter dance.

“It kinda reminded me of a newborn child, when I first seen my daughter’s when they were born, it was that type of feeling,” said Williams.

And for them, it’s just the beginning.

“Our souls just connected and that’s something I’ll never ever forget,” said Rosser.

The families plan to keep this going, but next time, they said they’re gonna have the families from Alabama come up to Cincinnati.
