NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio — One of northeast Ohio’s most popular summer festivals has been canceled for the second straight year.

Organizers of the North Ridgeville Corn Festival announced this week that the August 2021 festivities have been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The announcement comes despite permission from the state to hold outdoor festivals.

“While we recognize and appreciate Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s recent guidance to allow similar festival-style events and fairs in Ohio starting in June, we feel it important to maintain our caution for the safety of our community,” said John Butkowski, president of the North Ridgeville Corn Festival Committee. “The North Ridgeville Corn Festival Committee takes many months to organize and coordinate the event. Waiting to determine the situation with the coronavirus in June along with what the safety requirements for our members, visitors and vendors may be at that time will not gives us enough time to put the festival together.”

The corn festival generally includes a car show, parade, and corn-eating contest.

Butkowski announced that the 46th annual event will be Aug. 12-14, 2022.
