CANTON, Ohio — The Pro Football Hall of Fame will try to make up for not having a ceremony in 2020 by having not one but two enshrinement ceremonies this weekend.
The festivities will also include a concert, autograph sessions, fan events and live football.
Before the members of the 2021 Hall of Fame class are inducted Sunday, the class of 2020 will be honored Saturday. Twelve football legends from the 2020 Hall of Fame class will be enshrined Saturday and eight more from the 2021 class will be honored Sunday.
Honorees will have six minutes to deliver their speeches, although the Hall of Fame said it would not play its “Academy Award-style” cue music until eight minutes into the speech.
This year’s Hall of Fame class includes Peyton Manning, Charles Woodson, Calvin Johnson and John Lynch. The class of 2020, who had its enshrinement postponed due to COVID-19, is highlighted by bunning back Edgerrin James and safety Troy Polamalu.
While the spotlight will be on the 20 honorees, there are a number of other activities taking place this weekend.
Through Sunday, the Hall of Fame will hold a Fun Fest and Beer Fest. There will be food, special appearances and inflatables on hand.
Thursday’s Hall of Fame Game will feature the Pittsburgh Steelers versus Dallas Cowboys. The game marks the first preseason exhibition game in the NFL since 2019.
Following the weekend’s enshrinement ceremonies, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Brad Paisley will co-headline a concert to conclude the week on Monday.
