HAMILTON, Ohio — Operation Pumpkin, a nine-year tradition in Hamilton, is still happening this weekend thanks to some careful readjusting to make sure everyone stays safe.
What You Need To Know
- Operation Pumpkin in downtown Hamilton is still happening, despite the pandemic
- Instead of shutting down High Street, the festival will encompass both Main Street and High Street to include more small businesses
- Business owners are grateful the festival is still happening this year to bring in more customers during a difficult year
Operation Pumpkin is a street festival that typically closes off High Street for vendors and guests. This year, the festival will keep the road open, not have any vendors or the pumpkin weigh off, among other activities.
But, the event will now encompass both Main and High streets to encourage more people to visit local businesses.
Pumpkins in business windows keep the fall spirit alive. Business owners say having the festival this year will make an already difficult time just a little bit easier
“I think it’s fantastic that they decided to move forward with it, obviously with fantastic precautions to keep everyone safe,” said Sarah Dankoff, owner of Wildfire, a business in downtown Hamilton. “But it means a lot because these street festivals — they’re a huge boost for our businesses and to still have that in a COVID year is fantastic for us.”
Operation Pumpkin runs Thursday through Saturday in downtown Hamilton.
