COLUMBUS, Ohio — This week, Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose is rolling out a new campaign to get voters on tap with the mentality of “yes we can.”

“We are placing a reminder on beer cans and bottle at over 30 breweries all throughout the state of Ohio that now’s the time to get registered to vote,” said LaRose.

Seventh Son Brewing Co. in Columbus, along with 30 other breweries statewide, are each brewing a niche beer with a consistent message to encourage consumers to get involved in the political process, one pint at a time.

“Political conversations tend to happen at brewpubs,” said LaRose. “People get together, they talk about the issues of the day, they talk about their vision for how we can make our state stronger— those ideas are often debated in brewpubs, and what better place to have a reminder right there in your hand?”

Each can displays the deadline to register to vote and information on how to do it.

Seventh Son Owner Colin Castore says for them, it was a no-brainer.

“This is a great way that we can be a part of the voting process, part of the Democratic process, and really help get the word out, especially this year with how important it is, especially this year, with crazy of a year that it’s been, to get everyone out to vote,” he said.

LarRse hopes it will inspire first-time voters — and “saisoned” citizens alike.

“If you’re not voting you’re missing and important step in the process. You can have your opinion, you can state your opinion, you can share it on social media, you can go to public demonstrations —all of that matters. But unless you register and vote you’re missing an important part of the civic process, and so we want to make sure every Ohioan is part of it that includes young Ohioans, but also Ohioans of all ages.”

The deadline to register to vote is October 5, but you can do so right now online.
