COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced no new health orders in his statewide address on Wednesday, but told Ohioans that our future is in our own hands. DeWine indicated those discussions are for another time, but that he would take any action necessary to protect Ohio citizens.

DeWine says if we don’t take immediate action to slow this virus down, the tragedies we see in Florida, Texas, Arizona, and California may be Ohio’s reality in just a matter of weeks.

“Ohioans are strong, steadfast, and have bought Ohio time during this pandemic. You made extraordinary sacrifices. You left school. You left work. You stayed home. You missed loved ones, milestones, and paychecks. But, because you are strong, steadfast, and selfless, you also saved lives. You flattened the curve,” DeWine said. “While testing has gone up by 87 percent, our number of positive cases has skyrocketed by almost 200 prcent. Our number of new cases is not just the result of increased testing.”

DeWine is encouraging everyone in every county to wear a mask. But masks aren’t enough, he says.

“All of us have started to let our guard down.”

He says we must ask ourselves if gatherings and playdates would be worth it if a loved one gets sick.
