CINCINNATI — Seeing all 30 of the Major League Baseball stadiums is a feat some people want to accomplish in their lifetime, but one Southwest Ohio man wants to do it in just 30 days.

Derek Jones is packing up for life on the road for the next month.
But before he even got to the point of packing his bags, he had to make sure this dream was even a possibility.
“I’ve spent a lot of time staring at this spreadsheet,” Jones said.
Jones and his friend, Kevin Bengyak, are going to a baseball game at all 30 MLB parks in just 30 days. It’s no easy feat.
“What did we end up with?” Jones said. “Eighty-six routes? Of possibilities and this is the one that’s . . . the best.”
The duo will be driving over 15,000 miles in a rental car over the course of the 30 days in order to catch a game at each ballpark.
Jones said the trip has been a dream of his for a while.
“We’ve done baseball trips in the past like long weekends, either in one city or multiple cities, but this is something I always wanted to do and I finally have someone to go do it with me,” he said.
The trip isn’t cheap. It costs about $4,000 a person, which Jones said includes the cheapest tickets for just about every game.
“Everything’s magnified by 30, so an extra $5 is an extra $150,” Jones said.
And while it isn’t quite as glamorous as the life of a pro baseball player . . .
“They get flights and free food and don’t have to pay to go inside the stadium,” Jones said.
Getting out on the road is a dream in itself.
And now, a few days in, Jones finds himself back in Cincinnati for the Reds game.
“It doesn’t feel real yet,” Jones said. “Yesterday, was just a day trip to St. Louis. We’re back in Cincinnati today. I think tomorrow it will feel real driving to Philadelphia and then on from there.”
Getting ready to make his way to his seats to get one game closer to 30.
